Representative project scenario
Growth-Ready Fleet-Charging Depot
Plan 20 charging ports within an existing demand limit, with an expansion path to 36 ports.
Illustrative setting: Regional service fleet · Fort Wayne, Indiana
Representative project concept. This is an illustrative planning scenario, not a documented customer installation. Locations describe example settings. Figures are illustrative targets, not measured DES results or performance guarantees.
The example challenge
In this example, a service company plans to introduce 20 electric vehicles but cannot run every charger at full output simultaneously. The initial installation needs to support near-term vehicle readiness and a practical expansion path.
Operating and shutdown constraints
The depot remains operational in the scenario. Parking, dispatch, and employee access must be maintained, with a four-hour off-hours window for the final connection.
A proposed approach
The proposed design would allocate available charging capacity around vehicle departure schedules. The first 20 ports would be planned alongside conduit, pull boxes, and distribution capacity for a future 36-port layout, reducing the need to reopen the main paved route.
Illustrative targets and handover
Planning examples only. These figures are not measured customer results or a promise of performance.
- Illustrative initial phase: commission 20 charging ports
- Illustrative vehicle-readiness target: 98% of vehicles ready for scheduled departure over a 90-day evaluation
- Operating objective: keep peak charging demand within the agreed facility limit
- Illustrative cutover limit: four hours
- Expansion objective: prepare the main conduit route for a future 36-port configuration
- Handover: charger-status and energy-use reporting for fleet management
