Why Powerwall 3
Tesla’s Powerwall 3 datasheet lists 11.5 kW continuous, the ability to start large home equipment such as central air, up to 20 kW DC solar, and Heat Mode for cold weather. Powerwall 2 is still 5 kW on-grid / 7 kW off-grid. We install the generation that matches the house.
Existing arrays can still pair. Home chargers can go in the same electrical design.

What the system can do
Tesla markets Powerwall 3 as able to support whole-home backup on a single unit for many houses because of its power rating. We size whole-home backup versus a smaller backup panel from your panel, HVAC, well or sump, and what you need to keep.
Tesla rates both generations for –4°F to 122°F. Tesla publishes Heat Mode for Powerwall so the battery can keep charge and discharge performance in the cold. Midwest winter is why we talk mounting location and derating on the site visit.
Tesla Home can send excess solar to a connected EV during the day. Digital Electric installs Powerwall and Tesla home chargers so that path can exist. Existing solar can still pair.
Tesla publishes Powershare so a compatible vehicle can share energy with the home during an outage. That is Tesla vehicle and Tesla Home behavior. We install the Powerwall and charger infrastructure those features run on.
Need more energy or more power later? Powerwall 2 can add units (Tesla: up to 10 on one backup switch). Powerwall 3 can add units and Expansion batteries per Tesla’s current limits. We leave a clean electrical path instead of boxing you into a one-and-done wall.

Warranty
Tesla’s U.S. limited warranty for Powerwall 2 and Powerwall 3 is ten years when the system is installed and registered per Tesla’s terms. Digital Electric is a Tesla Powerwall Authorized Partner, so we follow Tesla’s install and registration path. Tesla writes the warranty. We walk through Tesla registration when we wrap the job.

Tesla Home shows solar, home load, Powerwall, grid, and the vehicle as one picture. That app is Tesla’s. Digital Electric’s job is a Powerwall install that comes online in Tesla Home.
Where Tesla and the local utility offer a program, Powerwall owners can join Virtual Power Plant events in Tesla Home. The app can prepare the battery for a grid event, and you can opt out from Home Status. Digital Electric installs the system that enables this. Tesla operates Tesla Home, Opticaster, and VPP.

No. Powerwall can keep the house on without solar. If you already have an array, we can pair storage to it. Existing solar is welcome.

Powerwall 3 is Tesla’s current higher-power unit with an integrated solar inverter (Tesla: up to 11.5 kW continuous, 13.5 kWh, up to 20 kW DC solar). Powerwall 2 remains 13.5 kWh at 5 kW on-grid. We confirm the right generation from your loads.
Tesla markets Powerwall 3 as whole-home capable for many houses because of its power, including the ability to start large home equipment such as central air. That still depends on your service, HVAC, well, and what you keep. We size whole-home backup versus a smaller backup panel on site.
Tesla Home is Tesla’s home energy management system. It comes standard with every Powerwall and is powered by Opticaster. Digital Electric installs Powerwall and brings it online so Tesla Home can run.
Current federal, state, and utility programs depend on your site and the year the system is placed in service. The IRS lists the Residential Clean Energy Credit as unavailable for property placed in service after December 31, 2025. Ask us what is available for your address. Confirm tax treatment with your tax advisor.
